Vijayawada: The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) will organise summer coaching camps 2026 across the state, targeting children aged 8 to 16 years. According to officials, a total of 1,389 camps will be organised in 55 sports disciplines at 1,020 venues covering 423 mandals.At a press conference, SAAP chairman Ravi Naidu said guidelines have been issued to district sports officers after a review process. A three-member committee will monitor implementation at the district level. The camps will function under the supervision of District Collectors.Officials stated that funds have been allocated for sports equipment, training materials, camp management and other operational needs. Basic facilities such as drinking water and refreshments will be arranged at camp locations. Local organisations, sports associations and volunteers are expected to assist in conducting the camps.The programme aims to engage children during summer holidays through structured training in multiple sports. Registrations and attendance will be tracked through a dedicated sports application, and officials have been instructed to monitor daily activities and training progress.The camps are scheduled to be inaugurated by sports minister Mandepalli Ramprasad Reddy.

Ramprasad Reddy submitted proposals for developing modern sports infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh, including sports complexes, multipurpose indoor halls, athletics tracks, football grounds, swimming pools and other state-of-the-art facilities. He said the proposed projects would significantly strengthen sports infrastructure in the state, especially in rural areas, and provide young athletes with access to quality coaching and training, enabling them to excel at national and international competitions. Unveiling the posters of the State-level sporting event, Collector says the championship will serve as an important platform for identifying and nurturing sporting talent across Chittoor district District Collector Sumit Kumar released the publicity posters for the ‘Amaravati Championship 2026’ on Wednesday. This Statewide sporting event is being organised by the Andhra Pradesh government to mark National Sports Day Launching the campaign at the district Collectorate here, the Collector said that the championship would serve as an important platform for identifying and nurturing sporting talent across Chittoor district. He urged young athletes to utilise the opportunity and hone their sports careers. The championship will be conducted from July 15 to August 29 in three stages — constituency, district, and State level. Competitions will be held in the under-17 and under-23 categories for both boys and girls across 12 disciplines — archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, basketball, chess, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, weightlifting, volleyball and yoga. The Collector said that the initiative reflected the State government’s commitment to promoting grassroots sports and creating pathways for talented youngsters to excel at higher levels.Officials from the District Sports Development Authority, coaches of various categories of sports and games, and youth groups took part in the event.
